Intaglio & Monotype Printmaking: Thursdays, 6:30-9:30pm, April 9—June 11th at the Art Lab

  • Art Lab Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden. 1000 Richmond Ter Ste 10 Staten Island, New York 10301 (map)

This introductory course explores intaglio, drypoint and monoprint techniques, with an emphasis on hands-on studio practice.  Each process will be introduced through demonstration and practiced in individual projects. Both beginner and advanced students are welcome.

Working from their own images, students will learn how to prepare plates, apply grounds, develop pen-and-ink like effects using acid, and print multiple editions using an etching press. Alongside intaglio processes, students will experiment with additive and subtractive methods, layering, and spontaneous mark-making to create unique, one-of-a-kind monoprints.

This class meets Thursdays, once a week for 10 weeks. April 9th—June 11th, 6:30-9:30pm. $395
